1980s-1990s tv cartoon about a caveman kid who travels to different times to collect creatures?

I think he was accompanied by a girl and they time traveled in a rocket ship. The creatures had special powers, like one is a bird thing that can bring drawings and pictures to life. Its a cartoon and this is the extent of the info I can remember on it. Any ideas? Whats the title?
